Hello, World!

As usual, I didn’t make any New Year’s resolutions in 2020.

I always have a vague sense that I should, but know in my heart that I’ll never see them through, so why bother? There are many things I should do, but unlike people who feel a deep passion or interest in any given topic or undertaking, my attention wanders quickly.

People who have passions have always fascinated me. My mother is one of those people; she throws herself into any interest 100%, whether it’s learning languages, doing aikido or blogging. I know about a month’s worth of Welsh, Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic from Duolingo (got bored with only one language and then ended up getting frustrated when I got the Romance languages confused) have a white belt in Tae Kwon Do and Aikido (figured I had accomplished that and should stop while I was ahead), and have trouble staying on topic when I’m writing a sentence. Proof in point — I just rewrote that sentence three times. Ok, five times, and counting.

Whenever I’m forced into choosing interests, I always default to reading and travel, which are my favorite ways to spend my time. Unfortunately, I have two children in college and can’t afford to travel anywhere, and I doubt many blog readers are interested in my academic opinions on regency romances and cozy mysteries.

My feet in Palm Springs

My feet relaxing in Palm Springs at the John Barrowman Writing Workshop. More on that another time.

Regardless, I’ve decided I want a blog, and, instead of working against my ADHD (diagnosed), I’ll play to my strengths. Hence thirtydays.to, where together we’ll explore a multitude of topics, but each for only thirty days. One month it may be yoga, the next learning to draw, or dance, or declutter a closet, but each topic will have a set time limit. I’ll try to alternate between physical, mental, and spiritual challenges to keep it interesting.

For inspiration, I’ll work from inspirational books and techniques — you know, all those Thirty Days to a Brand New You books you’ll find in the self-help section.

Obviously, I’m writing this blog for my and your enjoyment, but it would be nice to make a bit of cash to keep my kids in school. To that end, please tell your friends, follow me and share on FacebookTwitterInstagram (one month I may have to learn Instagram), etc. All are welcome to follow along and join in my thirty-day journeys.
